Got stuck into the Rangie today (Raining) Found a few dramas:eek: Bloody sand islands:mad: They are fun to drive on:D but hard on seals:( The swivel seals are gutted:o Its the self leveling grease job:eek: Only has to last 14hrs and we are home. I've put the BWA rims and the Yokahama Geolander tyres on and they rub on rear brake dust covers:eek: Bad. Seems strange they were fine on the 84 Ph 2.:confused: Some adjustment is needed:twisted:

I'm going with only a few spares as short notice:eek: See those weights inside the rims. They hit the rear brake covers.

OK, we made it:) 16 ltrs/100:eek: For 800kms.Head wind most of the way:( Had heaps of snow here so Kids (Big and small) having fun. Will post up some pics when back.
Made it back after bit over 2000kms travel. Wen't up to Cambera, Cooma,Jindarbyne, Perisha mountains, some of the National parks Tracks that we could get at, Checked out Snowy Hydro Eleco in Tumit area, Came back via Young. Was an awsome trip the old Rangie went well. Just a little underpowered on some hills in 4th gear with all our gear in it. Fuel 14 to 16L/100 kms. Was able to cruise on 110 kmh even in a head wind. Only problem I had was a hose clamp failed when I tried to tighten it cold when I noticed a small coolant leak. Should have known better and warmed it up 1st as hoses get hard in Alps:(. Had to cut hose and use zippy ties till I could get a new clamp.

Have got hold of a pair or RR sport guard vents.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Not sure how they will fit up or look on the old Rangie:eek: Depends whare they are put. In the bonnet would work best. In the guards will look better:confused:
I have taken the plunge and organized some LRA Springs and Long travel kit to shove in as will have Diffs and housings out for MD and 4.11s. My left swival seal is gutted from samd Islands so If ventureing in that far I may as well do the lot:) Will have to get caster done at same time as it will be sitting 3" higher. Have weighed the Rangie and looks like we need 180lb front and 320 rear springs. The LRA springs are not handed so I fear It may lean right as will have a 45 ltr quarter tank on RHS and most times driver only. We will see how it goes. LRA now only suply Koni shocks in long travel and are bloody dear:o. I have not made my mind up yet. AS we all know If springs and damping is wrong they ride awfull and handle like a bath tub on roller skates:eek: I'm also going to fit a defender steering damper as RRC set up will get taken out on a rock here as sit low.
I think they would look good colour coded, and installed as negative pressure vents in the top of the bonnet.Quote:

Would you believe Fleabay, 80 odd coupons:) Better then those super chump auto ones and I wan't it different to those useing RRC rear quater vents:) I didn't think about top of bonnet. I don't mind chopping into bonnet as has a few golf ball marks in it:eek:Quote:

See how justinc and LRA go with them,: Machine swivels, Swap vented to disk and fit Defender calipers (Have here) get rid of the stupid sun roof. Makes wind noise at speed and creaps open.:( Have a few more pics of more parts but time for some action:angel:
Have had an oil preasure drama on last trip. Replaced pressure SW turned out to be relief valve in oil pump. Drove it for a wile like it opps:eek:, Strange thing was lifters did not collapse:confused: Just shows the gutless 3.5 does not make enough HP to grenade them selves in a hurry:D. It would have been lucky to have 5PSI @ 2200RPM:eek:Every time I backed off the idiot light came on. Have since pulled sump and checked at random a big end and mains and no damage:) It might live. This now means the RRC is now for touring only:D So now can pull it off general duty. TO the work shop:D
