Yes it was a delight to see her drive back into the camp with a massive broad grim.
    Great stuff Gav,

    cheers

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Sorry mate, she's the only one.

You're joking right?! Either an X-trail has an insanely heavy clutch, or mine in very heavy.
I'll have to find someone in Brisbane with one and take it for a drive to compare, but I find the clutch very heavy.
    maybe I'm weak

You should have spoken to Geoff "The Booger" he had my Perentie at Corowa (fitted with KLR PAS). you wouldn't have had to part with the 101 even for a second!

In relation to a power assisted clutch, all you need is to fit and in-line booster, something like a PBR VH44 while there are a number of models most have and an output pressure of 820psi.

The VH40 is both physically larger with a greater boost so probably too much pressure for a decent feel of your clutch.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

While the X trail does have a heavy clutch, it's not insanely heavy. The Perenties I have driven have what I would consider a normal clutch feel - same as the 101 (it's the same box after all) the Rangie before the Auto went in, any Series LR I have driven. Maybe heavy compared to a modern small car, but I don't really know as I haven't driven any like that.

I just asked SWMBO if again about it - she said she didn't notice it was heavy at all.

I did chat to Geoff briefly and I knew he had your Perentie with him, but the thought didn't cross my mind at the time...

I don't mind giving people a drive of the 101 - Rod loved it, although he is a tall fellow with long legs and it didn't exactly fit him well. .

I find that if you cut off the toes on your left foot, getting into and out of the driver's seat of a 101 is easy!

There certainly is an art to it and watching people try for the first time is always fun. I find the best way is to start by putting your left foot on the wheel step, claiming up and putting your right foot onto the floor near the accelerator then your left foot can slide easily past the steering column.. Saves having to amputate.

to reduce myself to that, I'd have to lose my left leg first.

I suffered really badly from muscle loss when I broke my ankle and had the leg in a cast. doc actually said it was some of the worst he had seen and that I would probably only recover 70% or so strength and my ankle movement is reduced too, so maybe that's it.

One day I'll get a chance to try out another Perentie to compare.
