Silver is cheaper and just as good. Still records HD at 11mp with a great frame rate.

I'd get silver over black for that reason, plus battery life is better on the silver as its not working at capacity to record.

But the Black edition has WiFi so you can see what the camera can see.

    Happy Days.

But the Black is the only one to come with WiFi remote.

They are a good thing ;-)

If you have an iPhone or iPod touch you can use the wifi on it to control the cam and preview footage as well!

For what the OP wants a GoPro will not do the job. Low light performance won't be upto the task (unless they have had a huge improvement from the hero2). The 'dash cams' over write video by looping back to the oldest whereas a gopro will fill the card and then switch off.

Irrespective of the GPSr capability of a 'dash cam' they and the GoPro are for different tasks.

Incorrect. Check my previous post. GoPro now does loop recording.

I still agree with you though. GoPro is great if you want to record your favority 4x4 track but its not a dash cam for recording traffic incidents. It will do it but I'm sure you'd soon get sick of turning it on and off.

    Happy Days.

    my 2 cents

dont buy cheap off ebay/dx/aliexpress etc. The amount I have spent all up I could have bought one of those fancy blackvue ones, they look great.

after 3 cheapies either just being rubbish or just stop working all togeether after a few months I bought a navman mivue on sale at tricky dickies for $99. Its only 720p but its been bullet proof and isn't bad for the money.

Records at about 70 mb a minute in 1 minute files, and overwrite the oldest one once the card is full. Records about 7 hours on the 32gig card.
