    1. To move the icons hold your finger down on an icon until they begin to wiggle. You can then drag them around. Press the home button to save the position of them.

    2. Good luck with that I haven't worked out how to do that yet.

    3. Theres an option under General --> Date & Time --> Set Automatically. This will get the time from the phone operator. OR you can turn the option off and set the time and time zone manually. I leave it on auto and have never had a problem with it however I don't know how it goes when you go over the Tweed.

There is also an option on the Optus website to unlock it, cost me $75. There is no unlock code as such. When you sync it with itunes the phone will say something like unlocked.

    in answer to your questions

    1. hold down your finger on one of the icons, this will make them all wiggly and you can move them around

    2. bit of a hack but here are some instructions Create Free iPhone Ringtones Using iTunes in Windows

3.goto settings -> general -> date time. there is a world clock app that shows other timezones but no way of getting it to use the gps to work out which timezone you are in.

forgot to mention, a good feature is the pin code for when you unlock it... I have alot of confidential data on there. if someone steals it and tries to guess the code 10 times it will wipe it

Thanks guys for all the useful info.....working my way through the user manual and ringtone link now. Although tried to make a ring tone and got stuck at around item 7........might be something to do with the location of my files and the fact I sync with an exchange server but will take a closer look when i'm back in the office.

ONe other quick one if I may (user guide is 154 pages) is it possible to interface with my iPhone via my lap top like I did with my Nokia? Nokia PC Suite was great to use and allowed me to manage texts, music files etc etc. Nothing obvious to say this can be done with the iPhone. WOuld be handy for when i'm in my office.

Thanks again guys and will keep you updated as I learn how to use this "essential" toy

I don't believe there is anything out of the box from Apple like the Nokia Phone Suite but someone may have created a tool for this.

I'm going to try creating a ring tone when I get home I didn't know this was possible!

Make sure you check out the apps that are available on iTunes. Some of them are brilliant and very useful. My favs are BOMRadar (BOM Radar images for tracking storms), Pkt Weather, Darkroom (camera tool), Qantas (Qantas schedule and info tool - VERY handy if travelling), Discover (allows you to carry files on the iPhone).

Other essential apps are Tetris (for organising and mainting falling blocks of particular shapes in lines that disapper when complete), Quick Poker, Uno, Suduko Classic.

    Guys...

Want MMS on your iPhone? Or SSH? Or the ability to tether it to a laptop for data on the road?

Sweet I got this to work!. You have to make sure there are no spaces in the file name when you rename it to .m3r. If you have Itunes setup to manage your library it will rename the file to the Track Number and Song Name in the Tag. So I had to clear the Traack Number and change the song name to remove the spaces and then it worked.

I tried this for a while but I'm too lazy so I switched it back off. I may come to regret this but oh well
