Adobe readerDC will not open in IE11

    One for Incisor
Since "upgrading" to Reader DC it will not open Pdfs in IE11 Win 10.
I have googled all the fixes.
An adobe reader version appears as "enabled" when you go into add ons and "open without permissions." tried disable/enable no go.

The issue with mine at least seems to be that in "add-ons" the Adobe reader version that the add on points to no longer exists. I gather this from the dates shown in details are different for the adobe version in "add-ons" and the path does not include Reader DC, which the Reader DC path does show.

So it appears that reader DC is not compatible with IE11.

I tried "repair installation" in the reader DC help area but no go and I changed the attributes from read only, and increased permissions to all users.

I guess its no biggie as I can open pdfs in Edge, but it is annoying.

Have anyone come across this? the Adobe help area has lots of questions on this but it seems no answers.
It would "maybe" help if you could change the path for the correct version in IE11 but there doesn't appear to be any way to do that.

................. Adobe readerDC will not open in IE11 ....................

    Be thankful for small mercies.

Adobe's latest reader is a bloody disaster. For some reason the 'brains' at Adobe have decided that a bloody great intrusive side bar and several tool bars are necessary to view a read only file and it is very difficult if not impossible to permanently disable this feature without manually doing so whenever you open a document. It is VERY annoying and displays at best a total lack of understanding by the programmers of Adobe Readers user base or at worst a contempt for the same user base.

The vitriol and incredulity expressed by Adobes own support group over this inept and intrusive programming is quite an interesting read. The good news is that some on this forum have come up with modifications to lines of script which overcome the programs shortcomings.

For me after 'a lifetime' of using Adobe as my default PDF reader I resent having to have to re write Adobes Readers script to make it usable so have given it the flick all together. Currently I am using Firefox as my default PDF reader.

It seems that once a new version of Adobe Reader hits the streets all of the older versions cease to exist. I have tried in vain to find a downloadable copy of Version 10 but to no avail. Version 11 has murdered them all

So if you get a little pop up that advises you there's a new version of Adobe PDF software available in your own best interests say no.

The only reason is that my stockbroking website shows PDFs announcements as well as Java based interactive charts .

The new browser will not allow use of Java, and I know it's insecure etc but I only use it from a site I know.

So now I have to use wedge to see PDFs and ie11 to see the interactive charts which is a PITA.

firefox would generally be a more viable option.

i do work for quite a few traders and have them all on firefox with opera as a backup in case something goes helter skelter...

seems by far the most stable setup for them...
