I have the suspension stuff 2" lift for a D1 in my truck. I have dobbinson coils with suspension stuff shocks. In the front I have the heavy duty 40mm lifted coils (I have a bullbar and a dual battery system) and in the back I have medium duty coils (I have a roof top tent and fridge and gear etc). The ride was very choppy and not very comfy when I first installed the kit. However, once I put the roof top tent on and the fridge in, the ride is perfect. Their shocks are great and they are cheap as well.. Very solid units. I have had the kit in a little longer then six months and it works a treat. Good flex, good on road manners, and does not skip and jump around off road gravel work either. However, I did set it up to be a tourer and not a flex weapon.. Hope this helps

Shudder? I get a similar thing over bumps and get a noise thru the steering, the disco sometimes tap dances left and/or right but not that much. I have an original 98 300tdi new from L/Rover. It's done a few trips to the high country in Vic and a big trip to the Flinders ranges and beyond. Only in the last 3-6 months I have noticed that it is getting worse.
Could it just be the Steering damper or just the shocks.?

PS: the disco had done 270,000kms.

    cheers Luke

your shocks and springs (ie sagged) are probably

You usually get skipping like that because the shock can no longer control the spring. When I pulled my shocks out (original LR gear) I could completely compress the shock and it would stay there

Anyways.. check out some pricing and replace. It will make you ride a lot safer

klappers, it was the kit I was looking at getting, this one here.

Good value I thought for $730, including a respected name for the springs. This set of shocks only (!) has a 3 year warranty, but that means they'll probably outlive my Disco!

Well people will have to wait a little longer for any suspension feedback from me. I've been sent two different types of front shock (one pin to pin, one pin to eye) so no fitting this weekend

Have to send one back and get a new one delivered.

gday mate, definately put lift kit in. its amazing how much difference it makes and it will be ALOT safer too. I have 2inch lift from suspension stuff.... dobinson coils and bilstein shocks.. heavy duty springs. Bit stiff at first but once they had settled in now they are spot on. I also had same vibration issue, its jsut your shocks are shagged. you will find that when you replace them you will eaily be able to compress them by hand and they wont springs back... i am extremely happy with my suspsension... on AND OFF ROAD. i have had it in bout 5 months and have since fitted a set of 235x85 (32") BFG KM2's muddies and the car is now fantastic in the scrub and on road.

Thanks Four stroke am looking forward to it now, with the 32" tyres did you have to modify the guards?
