    Getting a radiator rodded

Disco got hot the other day pulling an empty trailer up a long constant hill. I was pulling up easily in 5th mind you and that seems to get the EGT's up a bit which didnt help.

The radiator hasnt been done since I bought the Disco back in September 04 and its never gotten hot like that before so I think its time to get it done. We dont have a plethora of radiator places to choose from in Bathurst, Natrad is about it. The guy there quoted me $280 or there abouts. Anyone had one done recently who can share with me how much it cost to have theirs done. Just want to make sure im not being taken advantage of because there isnt much competition in town. I cant remember the last time I had radiator work done and it wasnt in bathurst so I dont know the guy here at all. Matt

First thing I did Pedro, all the different suppliers on ebay seem to be selling them for around $600 give or take between $20-50 bucks.

I just got a new D2 rad for 120 UK pounds plus freight delivered to my door from Brookwells.

The cheapest I could find online in Aus was about 420.

    James

ps freight was 98 pounds for the rad and another small box of hoses

Down here in Melbourne it cost about $80 to $100 dollars to get it rodded. Mine was pretty blocked but came up a treat.. You might also want to check your Viscos Fan, mine was also stuffed as many are on this age car.
    Cheers, David.

Plastic tank radiators arent designed to be opened up. The tags clamping down the tanks stress fracture causing the seal to leak when opened and reclamped again being aluminium.
If a radiator place is willing to do it, make sure they warrant the work with a genuine new radiator....

    Just get a new unit.

    Cheers

Just had a look on Ebay.co.uk and there are a few listed for around the 90 pound mark give or take 10 quid. Just sent one an email asking if they will ship to Aus as they only list postage to the UK and EU.

Another option is to get your radiator fitted with a new core (or even a bigger core if needed for, say, offroad competition work). Natrad cores are good with slightly bigger diam tubes. Only takes a day and is a bit cheaper than a new radiator.
