Are the dash mountings different for the early d1s vs later models? I have a 1998 s1 that I want to change the stereo to one with either aux or bluetooth and I'm looking at options, preferably as easy as possible without having to rewire anything

    Stereo

    Hi,

I used this one in mine. its from a recent thread.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ers-front.html

its not as shallow as the 3 inches yours is, but shallower than one with a cd. very light which was a plus. i didnt think the disco had a shallow stereo space though. i took the whole facia off which is the reason i decided to get a new stereo, as the old one had dvd player/cd/gps which i never used and weighed a tonne hence why it cracked the old facia. the space behid it seemed fairly large. maybe im missing something from mine? anyone got pics with their facia off or the stereo out?

i did the speakers at the same time. am pretty happy with the result.

You can fit a normal size CD player in a late D1. I changed my '95 Disco tape player out for a standard CD player and didn't have any fitment issues.

Cheers, is it essentially just plug and play? just removing the old wiring fittings on the current stereo and placing them on the new one?

If the new head unit has the euro ISO plugs it will fit right in otherwise autobarn sell adapter looms made by Aerpro for about $15 or so that will adapt any brand you like to the ISO LR loom.

Early D1's have the stereo down in front of the gear shifter on an angle so long stereo's wont fit too well.

I needed a plug adapter for mine, but they are easy to find. The mounting brackets should fit into the bay nicely though, I had no issues with mounting.

Anndra. What are the specs i.e. model number?
