A mate, has done the cheaper option, high EGT plus poor fuel consumption. Yes the Ronbox tricks the ecu, however not to the extent of potential damage to the engine, plus it allows for slight better fuel efficiency, if the fueling is turned down.

No piggy back chip can change the timing or any thing major because that requires prediction. All the piggybacks do is trick the pump into adding more fuel. since they do not have the sensors to track EGT boost etc. they are not like common rail setups.

Though a smarter piggy back will lower fueling for idle and higher ambient temps. But there is not much in the line of smarts in a piggy back and the model run was so short that no one really got into it. the really prefer method was to rip it out and chuck in a manual pump

chuck on an EGT gage first with the magic number being 650 pre turbo.

i used a variable check out the pommy sites. if i remember correctly, green wire, 1000ohm starting off at 200 ohm. idle went to crap at about 280 ohm. Hit egt 650 at 350 ohm gave great off bost punt with coal

Google it there are various options on the cheap mod, however you get whay you pay for.
If going down the cheap mod pathway, recommended you fit a EGT gauge. The ThermoGuard one, which is made in Oz is a great unit, plus Ian sells all the adaptor plates, easy fit, more importantly piece of mind.

    Cheers
