got it back from the cooling specialists. Apparently radiator is 70% blocked. needs a new thermostat new Top and Bottom radiator hose new viscous. new fluid even though i changed it 3 days ago. the motors in the a/c fans are shot to. NOT BAD.

Basically it felt like they didnt know and have suggested to changed everything.

When my thermo fans failed up The Cape it made quite a bit of difference.
Now replaced, mine work with the aircon.
Maybe a new radiator core and thermostat first, to see what difference that makes.
Incidentally, I believe some Falcon thermo fans will fit Discos.
I just bought two off a Disco British Off Road was wrecking.

The Falcon (viscous hubs) fans do fit the hub (that's how we can use the bearing and hub for the timing case cover fix), but check they are pitched the right way around. I have heard or read somewhere they will push air rather than pull on the TDI.

Sorry - was thinking viscous coupled fans, not thermos. Have changed the wording accordingly.

Thanks for all your input fellas. Really good learning about peoples experiences especially with the cooling systems. I also wanted to head up the cape this dry season.

See how we go I guess
