    gave her sun relief

Finally worked out that if I park her under the shade of the massive pine and gums in the front yard the sun won't beat down upon her!

It's a long story! Short version is we moved house a fortnight ago and have been that darn busy painting rooms it took a while for me to work out where the best place was to park the Disco in summer, given the garage is just too full of 'boxes and stuff' at present.

Anyway, the other tale to relay is the old girl had a brilliant 500km run down, as part of the furniture removal exercise. All set up with camper trailer behind and a 3 piece leather lounge suite on top - "luxury campers!"

The other tale is after having the engine out to address a leaking rear main seal, dodgy valley cover gasket bleeding oil into cylinders, suspect hydraulic lifter clearances issues, and whatever else I sorted at the time; she ran like a dream and 'no oil leaks'.

It has to be a happy Xmas!?

Have a great and safe Festive Season all!

Re fitted the air con belt, filled with Nulon anti-freeze/boil, tightened the exhaust manifold bolts and ran the main wires to the rear for my dual battery set up.

Tomorrow is gonna be a big day.

Decided that the Viscous fan wasn't viscous anymore - due to engine temps rising even in moderate temperatures (around 20-25C) and slow moving traffic without the AC on. Then decided to investigate if the AC condenser fans were working - they weren't.

Replaced the viscous coupling and the thermostat for good measure. Sourced a pair of 10" pusher fans from Repco and eventually got them fitted without remving radiator or AC condenser. Jeez what a palaver removing front grille etc without breaking the trims under the headlights. The fans fitted easily using the original mounting points and some clamps made from conduit saddle clamps sawn in half and rebent (to look like a conduit clam with just one screw hole).

Haven't done a hot test yet but the viscous fan now makes a lot more air blowing noise and the condenser fans now work again.

I have been going flat out getting ready for the holiday.
Changed the relay rod after fitting new tie rod ends
    fitted a front diff guard
fitted a new left tail light
    Fixed the brake light switch
Made and fitted extended brackets to the cargo barrier to stand it more upright, making it easier to stand things against it.
Fitted the fridge and battery in the back and ran the wires from the isolator to the battery
Still have to fit ends to cable and cable from isolator to main battery and then fit fuse box to run accessories from
Fitted a tool box in the back to store tools, spare parts, cooking gear, clothes etc

Need to fit esky for food storage
Still need to re grease the winch and weld up the bullbar support for the winch, then wire it all up
Decided to fit 2" lifted springs as the high country has been wet so will give extra clearance
Fit bush wheels and tyres (Kuhmo KL71 tyres) and maybe trim the rear guards if they are gunna hit (which I think they will)

Fitted the 31x 10.5x15 Kuhmo tyres and I don't need to trim the guards. I'll just bend the lip up a bit on the drivers side and I have about an inch or so on the drivers side and about 1 1/2 inches on the passenger side.

Installed an ABR dual battery isolator, then proceeded to drop the earth cable on the positive terminal of the isolator
Now it doesn't want to charge the second battery

    Not happy Jan

I am supposed to be going away tomorrow morning

Spent the day replacing the dual battery isolator I stuffed yesterday. Luckily I still had one in my old troopy. Even though it is 15 years old the Piranha dbs 150 still works
Spent the rest of the day packing the rest of my stuff in the car

so I am back on track for my high country trip
