It followed me home
was meant to do full service last sunday but my back has been playing up the last few days, so i just did a few small jobs which were meant to part of the lot. like changed my squeaky belt tensioner (have changed the bearing on the old one but did nothing), changed serpentine belt and AC belt. fixed some of the cabin rattles, changed all my wipers, cleaned cyclonic breather and turned back the low boost fuel screw on the IP by one full turn. while back i cranked it to two full turns and although it wasnt smoking too badly, on idle it smelled a bit and was also wondering whether it had something to do with my start-up revs being low and knocking sound. cut a long story short, knocking sound still there, revs are still irregular at start up BUT the car is running a lot smoother. when i drive slowly it doesnt jump and shudder as much and it is much smoother. the power difference is not noticeable. funny thing though is if it had too much fuel going in would have thought you would have seen it come out as smoke. anyway i like it how it is. only thing that happened is that my oil pressure alarm on the madman keeps going off telling my i have pressures of up to 90psi. i have had this happen in the past where the pressure gauge kept jumping up when powering up the gears, after a very long drive it went away, so i think it was due to some blockage on the pressure gauge, as the car was running fine and no symptoms other than the alarm going off. i think this time she is just reminding me not to let the full service go and give her new oil and filter etc. going to clean my IC too and fuel filter change and sedimenter clean out, do the valve clearances and pull the EGR blanking plate where my EGT is, just to see if there is any sort of blockage on exhaust. my EGT seems higher than usual since a few months and i swear the boost builds up quicker.
Finally Finished my fold down table.just had to buy a latch and weld it on turned out pretty good. Aluminum door card then stainless benchtop.

Pur it on a tilt tray at 3am. On the way to Brisbane airport, blew a radiator hose! Missus was with me, so she's escorted Slo-Mo home. Have to wait until Monday when I get home to check out the damage.

One of the guys off this forum in Perth did mine. Works a treat. Send 'Shakey' a PM to see if he is still doing them.
Been working on my rear draws too![]()
OK so I'm a bit of an idiot..... basically i thought the head on my 97 disco had been leaking oil for about the last 18 months.
So I had the opportunity to borrow a car for a while and though I'll get a new head gasket on.
Once the manifolds were off and I could see what was going on I realized that 2 of the 3 rocked cover bolts were just sitting there... hence oil leak...DOH!!
Anyway had it apart and thought bugger-it. Purchased a hybrid turbo cartridge from the UK to see if it would make any difference to the 20yr old 300km disco.

All done. has made the old girl a much more driveable beast. the deadly off idle nothingness is completely gone. it drives like a modern vehicle. Haven't had a big run yet but seems much improved. installed a boost gauge at the same time. Seems to boost to 13 psi atm. Will turn it up slightly I think to about 15psi. That will probably be enough for this old beast.
