Drive with sympathy & save your pennies. No need to rush the upgrade.

When the front snaps you know the maxi rear is up to the task of limping it home. What did you do with or to your Disco today

Hey i was just cruising down the highway when it let go. I bought some parts off a bloke who said his done the same thing. Anyway bigger tyres wont help. Your maxi drive rear should be fine., I'd only worry about front when you go 4 wheeling.

Unfortunately for me i just spent all my money putting a truetrac in the front and buying ashcroft cv's and axles, then for my rear diff to let go once im poor again.

Oh by the way cutting out all my mufflers today...

New driver's seat form base and diaphragm

Fitted a new driver's seat form base and diaphragm last weekend. Made the driving more comfortable and I'm sitting a little higher. I'm now tempted to do the passenger's seat.

    Tipped a trailer?

Who tipped a trailer over in their D1 today?
I drove past a disco with the rear wheels a metre in the air with a sideways trailer holding them up this morning, I bet there's an interesting story there somewhere....
This was in the blue mountains, nsw.

One of the first things I did to mine after I got it.
Cost $200 for the foam, and some again for the diaphragm .. but I didn't need the diaphragm. Still the best money I've spent on mine to date!

I have a busted knee from 20+ years ago, and in those last 20 years the D1 is the only car I've had (of the 10 or so I've changed) that I can drive without the need for cruise control.
Seat itself isn't so comfy even with the new foam, for my liking, but the position itself is close to perfect for me.
In saying that tho, I still had to get cruise control for it tho!

D2 seats aren't as comfy nor the position as suitable.

Have fitted a new rear welch plug, rear main seal, clutch, heavy duty clutch fork, front gearbox seal and big ends. Just waiting for the rtv on the sump to cure overnight before torquing up. Will then fit the rest of the welch plugs, P gasket, water pump gasket and a set of glow plugs. Then the little job of putting it back in...

Motor is back in, welch plugs replaced and new glow plugs, just waiting for the RTV on the p gasket to cure, (no snow today ^^^^^ ) and back into it in the morning! Presently over 38 degrees and just too hot to touch anything. But with all the bellhousing bolts and engine mounts done, the rest is a cruise. Hope to have it done tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
