Either break down, or it will rain....
Polished it.
Big sod will probably break down now!
Either break down, or it will rain....
Life is just a series of obstacles preventing you from taking a nap.
Finished installing the replacement engine today.
Got it started and running smooth. Took me 3 starts to get it running. Was quite happy with that. Ran for 20 minutes to clear finger prints off and stop the smoke etc.
Did find i have a leak in what appears to be the bottom water hose. Seems i have a engine leak in the front timing case which i knew about.
Beyond that no issues thus far.
Now change out the oil tomorrow, fix the water leak and install a new rear tailgate window. Oh and a damn front light which fell off my bench and smashed. So busy day tomorrow.
Took my car for a drive today and found i had no gear changes.
Obvious choice being the kickdown cable. Checked it and it is bound up, likely from me during the engine replacement.
Ordered a new one (cheers Roverlord off road spares) and will fit that tomorrow.
Also fitted a replacement rear tail gate window today and a headlight i broke (****!!) today.
EVEN PAID THE REG!!!!! Dang it must be getting close to driving again.
Put some new number plates on today. Only because my old ones were really old. UNN 007 were them. I kept them when i purchased the car as i liked them. But now there old and cop bait. So got new ones which makes the car look newly registered
Changed front timing case seal today. Easier job than i thought actually. Locked up the ring gear using a 13 mill spanner and it fit into a recess in the bell housing. Really convenient actually.
Had a water leak im trying to find. Think it was the old water pump i put on. Took that off cleaned it gasket gooed it and will test tomorrow and see if i fixed that.
Tomorrow is a gearbox teardown, or part there of for a kickback cable and filter change.
Hi all
Yesterday took my Disco4 into the service centre (an independent LR specialist) to get the new key fob programmed to the car. They had ordered it from the UK with my cars VIN a few weeks ago. I had wanted a second key fob as a backup.
That afternoon before I left to pick it up I phoned to check it was all OK. Oh dear. It didn't accept the key and it's immobilised.
Today what happened to my Disco? The software guru can't get it started. Steering is locked also.
It's being towed to an LR centre. (Update: It requires a new KVM installed. New keys are now required to be shipped with new KVM.)
Mike
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Hi all
I agree AK83, a plain metal key is all I want. Little did I know that the electrowhizzbangery key fob was going to be so much trouble.
The car was towed from Fivedock to a dealer at Concorde and then to a dealer at Lidcome. Have no idea at this stage when i'll get it back. When i do I'll look for the 24ct gold plating on the key given how much it will have cost me. Have had to hire a car this weekend. The place that I put the car into is also not happy as they will have to cover the towing costs.
Sad Mike
Changed donut today.
Did an oil and filter change.
Put inspection plate on the gear box. (been waiting to make sure all was good)
No leaks, no issues and running well.
I deserve a beer.
Replaced the leaking clutch master cylinder and removed the clutch damper in the process. Wouldn't believe it had the same gearbox in it now....
