That you for all you comments. I think i will being going with a 32" tyre now. Something like 235/85 R16 if i dont get offset rims. If i do i will look for something a little bit wider to fill the flares.

Another quick question. Has any one removed the sway bars on theres? Now remember this is my Every day driver. Would it still drive to an alright point with both sway bars removed or should i remove the front/back or none?

I wouldnt remove them on a dailr driver, i have not noticed any problems eith still on. If you are fitting flares i really think you should get offset rims to help fill the guards.
I put 32' on as i got them cheap but may go to 33's later on and upgrade my AT's to 32's.

okay thank you for your quick replies. Im thinking a 16x8 steel rim will be okay with 265/75/16s? They are just a little wider then the 235/85/16s (30mm to be more precise) so should sit okay in the wheel wells? with the offset from -25mm rims i doubt they will scrub? Well i hope that they dont. seeing as if i offset the rims to -25mm and stock is +30mm that should be plenty?

    Yes, good option there.

Regarding the sway bars, you can do it and it will roll a bit more and give you some more travel. The original Rangies had no sway bars and it was off-putting to many first time drivers.

Try it and if you don't like it, put them back on.

Don't bother removing the sway bars unless you want to go serious 4x4ing.

I have a 96 D1 300tdi with 31s and I just spent 2 weeks in the high country and got heaps of flex out of it with the sway bars still fitted.

When you do the flares put up some pics.

I am thinking of fitting some as the 31s scraped on the join between the rear door and the guard. I have cheviot hurricane mags and don't know what the offset is, but I suspect that it is just a bit too much for standard guards.

My locale? If you mean location I'm just north of Sydney nsw. If you don't mean that please explain what locale is?

As for the flare pics i sure will. Don't expect then too soon as I won't fit them until I have the tyres and rims.

Thanks for you help. I think I'll just leave the sway bars on for now.

Sounds like they are definitely the wrong offset. Unless you're particularly attached to the wheels, you'd be better off buying new wheels with the stock offset. Perhaps a set of the LR alloys?
