    Just a thought
Is a temporary solution to by pass the pump with some hose? Would this suffice for basic town / highway driving?

I'm guessing it's for a 300 tdi? If so, sometimes you can get away without a pump, the injector pump will suck it from the tank if already primed.

Gday Dave and thanks for the offer which I have just seen now.
Yes that's exactly what I did.
It got me home no worries.
Bit of an anxious drive as I bought the car yesterday - it had been parked for about a year and is a bit neglected.

nope, retired and started a hobby business being a grease monkey to fill in time.

I do a run every 3-6 months north to spend time with the boys or if customers want a run done. So far Mckay is as far as I've been directly for spanner spinning type work but I also cover off on expedition support stuff so that lead to a cape trip and theres another coming in july next year..

Company name is RoverShed Services. its on FB and the interwebs in rough format.
