    $23 cargo barrier " yhea baby!!! ""

So l took Chucaro's advice and had a look around a recycling place today and "omfg", l found tucked away in a corner of the yard was a cargo barrier for a commodore,
l waited patiently "guarding my find" until l could get the attention of one of the guys working there!!!
He finally walked up and said
    "can i help you mate?"
"mate how much for the cargo barrier behind me ?"
(ready to pounce on anyone that dared to come within 10 feet of my new treasure)
    he said
    "uummm i don't know ????"
    "$8 bucks!!"
    nearly wetting myself w excitement
    l calmly said " will u take $7? "
l took it and ran as fast as l could before he took back hes offer and took it to my little bro's place to show it off !!!
" wtf " he Say's, well we had better get it in there !!
a day later, some good thinking and some "little brother welding prowess" there u have it a $23 cargo barrier
    "yhea baby"

From an engineeering/safety point of view, there are a few things I don't like.

    1. the top straps are angled quite steeply from the attachment bolt. They should really be in a straight line.
    2. The attachment bolts are the seatbelt bolts.

    Ditto the lower mounts.

    Ron,

    What will effect the barrier?
A crash, hard object hitting it, etc?

Why do the supports need to be dead straight?

Just wondering as I'm thinking of making one.

    Cheers

mmm i see ur point but!!! the miford for most other trucks ancer in the same manner the seat belt bolts or the hand rail mounts so i dont get the prob is , a hole in the floor w big fat ars washers???? a new hole in a panal??? or even a weld to a panal has just as much safty factor as what ive done

    cheers

I'm not trying to shoot him down. I think it's a good effort.

not to upset you... (IHMO anythings better than nothing)

what youve done is not ADR complient.... A seabelt mounting point can only be used as a seat belt mounting point (and a babyseat restraint in some circumstances)

Since your brother is a welder see if someone can get some pics on how the proper disco cargo barrier is installed and then duplicate that onto your frame work.

    Nice work tho...
