    V8 guys&gals

I have my 91 3.9 disco booked in for a new exhaust.I'm going 2.5" right through from the twin pipes to the rear.My question is which muffler do i get them to put on.The guy i was talking to said i may need a triflow but i was thinking a sports muffler.Opinions and ideas welcome.Cheers Brett

I havent heard of a tri-flow before, it sounds a bit restrictive. Normally most guys talk about a free flowing muffler like a straight through one.

depends on what you want I suppose, noise Vs suppression

The tri flow comes in and does a circle before going out.I think it sounds restrictive also.I want to pick up a bit of power(if possible)and would like some better sound(It sounds a bit gay compared to Stirlsilvers).Cheers Brett

When you get the exhaust done have a straight through muffler fitted in the centre of the system (just after the y pipe flange)and a resonator at the back near the bumper this will give good sound good back pressure and better performance (marginal but better)

I run a Magnaflow centre and a small hot dog resonator. 2.5" from the y-pipes back. Sounds

do you haave extractors???, they help i have genie extractors though to a single 2 and a half inch sports system (i'll look under the disco later and take a pic for you) and it sound pretty good i'd say it pretty well the same as stirling's just kinds rumbles a bit more

I recently had twin 2" pipes fitted from )where the two exhausts on either side, go into one) to the junction, then a 2 1/2 " for the rest of the way.

It did have a straight though muffler and resonator at the rear. The exhaust drumming inside the car was so bad at 2,000 to 2,400 rpm, that I had the straigh through replaced for a "Triflow".

It still makes a hell of a noise from outside, but no drumming inside
