    97 D1 Manual V8 - 15l/100km week in week out.

Long range tank of 134 l so it hauls a bit around every fill, mostly a commuter between Ballarat and Melbourne, so does much better going to Melbourne (downhill lol) but even on my big trip last year - still the averaged the same figures.

I've only had the 98 D1 V8i since last week, but have found it great on gas, I'm getting 26L/100km, and to anyone that is concerned about performance... well.. I have been surprised by it so far, never having driven a gas vehicle before, I wasn't sure what to expect, I was expecting the gas to be sluggish or in some way deficient as compared to Petrol, well unless the D1 has the greatest standard V8 ever produced I am impressed, the performance is what I expect from a V8, plenty of grunt, it gets up and boogies, and is very driveable.

I'm so impressed I haven't even tried it on Petrol yet.
Assuming all is well with your system and it is the mixer ring type, then the reason you are getting good performance is due to your high consumption.
My experience with the mixer system (that I have) is that you can have good consumption or good power. You can't have both although you can have a happy medium.

My last tank full from the stop/start drive to work got me a corrected 21.91L/100km. It is nice to drive on gas but when you switch to petrol it is noticeable. However if I turn the power valve up the power goes up along with the consumption.

for some unknown reason i don't seem to care about it.....l love the comfort, power, look, stance, presence, ahhhhh bloody everything about the 98 v8.......compared to the GU i used to drive it's simply no comparison..(in the disco's favour)...and my bro is spending more on fuel than me in his diesel gq...so it come out in the wash we know what we drive and it has purpose........

Ive got a series 1 discovery v8 duel fuel. Like anything the more you punch it the more fuel youll use. Towing a camper tralier, yeah it sucks through it (20ltrs/100) fill up on gas when you can and smiles all around. Just me, me swag, me dog, and no tralier, 16-17ltrs/100. Gas-petrol, up-dale down-dale, sit on 100km/hr....... purrrrs along, just dont drive it like a race car, cause it aint

    power and economy

You can have your power and economy too. Just retrofit an oxy sensor to the exhaust and fit a LPG mixture controller, the one I use allows full mixture during launch phase and reduces to optimum for cruise. Very easy to fit and worth up to 20% extra economy. Costs about $300 for the parts but pays for itself.

Could you elaborate a bit please mate?
    Type of O2 sensor?
Type of LPG system you have?
    What other parts are required?
    Thanks alot.

One of the best things I did was advance my timing by about another 7 degrees. A noticeable improvement in power and economy but huge knocking back on petrol. I will get one of those RPI boxes soon to change timing to suit fuel type. I was getting about 17L/100km at 100-100km/h on a long trip of flats/ups/downs.

Has anyone mentioned that LPG currently has no government excise? Expect that to happen in the next couple of years, a gradual phase in of extra Tax on top.

Petrol excise is something like 38.7c

Add a that to your LPG prices and do the maths! EEEEK

Just reminded me of somthing that I wanted to bring up seeing Boxer's post Re: Chipping a V8 for better Fuel economy . Since I had a some head work done on my 3.9 V8 heads, I have noticed a slight improvement in Fuel economy.
