    Hi there
there are many links for this question.

    I get 20l/100

if I go hard, it gets worse, mine is also an auto.

    on gas I get 230k's per 59l.

    All the best.

I've got the manifold tank on the rear floor.
It looks like this now. Although the cover is nearly finished so it doesn't look quite like that.

    At 61.9c/L and 22L/100km it cost $13.62 every 100kms
    A diesel if it gets 10L/100km at $1.60/L is $16 every 100kms.

So yes it is cheaper but really you buy the vehicle with the engine that suits your style I think. I'd have bought a diesel if I was going to tour in it but I don't so I got a petrol and converted to LPG.

However if I didn't live on Brisbane southside and instead lived in Rockhampton then the prices (at least when I was there a few weeks ago) would equal about

    LPG 81.9c/L $18.02
    Diesel $1.80 $18

Someone please correct me if I am wrong - you don't get as many K's from gas and you have a performance loss and there's a significant capital cost to install the conversion.

For 59L I will get approx 678.5 km. I am not an economical driver, so my TD5 uses around 11.5L/100km of fuel.
At say $1.50 per litre of diesel, 59L costs me about $88.00
This means it costs me 13c / km to operate a TD5.

How does this compare to gas?

I have been keeping a track on my fuel usage over the last few months.

I did a trip recently that was mostly open road driving, I filled her up to the brim and got about 570 K's out of the tank (89 Litre) from memory it worked out to be about 15.6l/100 kilometres. I think that is not to bad from a D1 V8.

Anyway, of course around town I get a bit less than that but i tend to drive her fairly easy in the built up areas.

    For Jeep Boy

I'm actually getting her put on gas next Friday so that will ease my fuel bills a bit. I have opted for the tanks in the cargo area as i would like to keep my original fuel tank, extra range for camping and outback trips where gas may be hard to get. The dude says that with the tanks and the false floor i will use about 30 cm of depth space in the rear. That is not a huge issue to me as a mate of mine is hand making a nice little cargo barrier for it.

    there you go

I missed the trouble getting gas bit.

You would be surprised how many local servos do not have gas. Then there are the servos that charge 10c/L or so more than the others.

So I know the servos in my area that have cheap LPG. As for when on a trip I have never had any trouble finding LPG but then I haven't ventured too far off the beaten track in the Disco. However I still have my 89L petrol tank so it isn't an issue if I can't.

Using the figures above I get 13.62c/km in Brisbane and 18c/km in regional places.

It's been a while since I've seen diesel at $1.50/L. Where is that?

It does cost to install the LPG but I was $1500 out of pocket which I recouped very quickly. That is a lot less than the extra I would have had to have paid for a 300Tdi Disco when I bought my V8 so still ahead there. Plus like I said, the engine you choose needs to suit your style. No one bases it purely on their wallet. Financial figures are there to back up the decision we have already made not to help make the decision in the first place really.

Hey Utemad, when you fold down your rear seats but don't tumble them forward, do they fold to the same height as the tank cover? ie: do you have a flat surface across the tank cover and folded seats?
