The lifters in a 3.9 are designed to pump up at about 5500RPM to protect the motor from overrev.
if you are going over that you either are very mechanically unsympathic or have fitted Crane lifters.

On the D1, the PAS usually lets go before the valves start bouncing. I've seen a few cars come back from a road test with the aux. belt off.

Thanks for the answer! Ill just treat it like my Commy. 5500rpm redline. Not that I use it much. Still, its handy to know incase some little goober in his doof doof ground scraper thinks a 4x4 cant keep up![]()
I normaly shift when the exhaust gets too loud
Other than that, I generally try to keep it where the power feels good, too many revs she doesn't feel like she's doing any more.
