    Correction bushes

Hi Guys . what needs to be done to get the standard bushes out of the front arms ? will they knock out with a hammer or are they a press job ? same with putting the correction bushes . Will they knock in or do they have to be pressed in ?

You can be a sissy and use a press , or you can do what real men do.

Drill out the rubber , and probably break a drill bit.
Then hit the bush with a MAP gas torch and burn the sucker out.
Then hacksaw the outer sleeve through until you can peel it back with a cold chisel.

And to replace bushes I'd recommend the sissy route and use a press.

    All of the above,

but the best thing to do is fit standard rubber bushes and modify the swivels for castor correction.

I have changed the bushes this way before and gee it is a long process.

Didn't bother with drilling the rubber first we just set the whole lot on fire

You could probably do it semi sissy using a long thread, a couple of nuts and sockets.

Come to think of it if I had to do it again , I would probably do it that way or of course use a press , if one was handy.

I broke my vice out of the workbench installing the panhard rod bushes and twisting the rod to get a bit more leverage. Poor old Vice. Now I have to figure out how to reinforce the workbench.

To make the job easier for you next time ...

Stick the bushes in the freezer over night ... This will shrink em
Warm the rods up around the bush holes with a electric heat gun .. Make em hot / (not melting hot) .. But "Kinda" gotta wear gloves hot ... or leave out in the sun on a real stinky hot day ... This will expand the hole

Grab the bushes out of the freezer and store in a ice bag complete with frozen bottled water

Lube up the hole ... Stick in the bush .... Wind away on the vice // Must be done in a Timely manner ... as once the bush warms up it will start to be difficult

    Mike
