Good to hear of the good outcome.

Yeah, probably 70 to 80% of pedal travel required for kick down, which is how I like it.

I don't let it labour anywhere, if the old girl is loosing speed up a hill I either let it roll down to a speed it is happy with or give it guts to make it kick back, which is pretty rare as it will happily grunt up most hyway hills in top gear at 100kph.

Good to hear she adjusted up ok.
If the cable is that thin I wouldn't let it kick down on the pedal till it's changed.
If you think it needs to change cogs do it manualy.

couldnt fix the cable till thursday and i cant wait till them so i'm taking it in tomoz to another bloke i know and will be done.

Of your nervous you might break the cable, manually pull her back into 3rd, then 2nd if need be,,,

Unfortuneatly, to many people seem to have the idea that when you put an auto into "Drive",,thats where you have leave it,,,and therefore when you want some grunt ,,just put your foot down harder,,,,,

Use your gears when YOU want to,,,(within reason of course),,if you got caught out with no brakes, (God forbid),, what would you do to pull your girl up??? The car has gears,,you can use them,,,you paid for em even,,
If your going down a fairly steep hill, especially if your towing, bring her back a gear or two so your engines doing some work "with you", and not running "away from you". An auto will do just about everything a manual will do, we just become lazy and forget sometimes,,

I dont believe driving instructors teach the young ones how to use an auto to help a vehicle slow down like they do in a manual, (not that I think they do that well either) which is a shame. Theres a lot of good reasons to learn to use your auto to work for you,,
