Thread: Gutless 97 TDI

I brought my 98Tdi with a Torquegas LPG system already installed. Can’t tell you if it was worth the cost of installation but makes a big difference to power when I turn it on. So much so that I hate running out of LPG now. $10 of LPG (only a small tank that sits underneath) last about 1½ tanks of diesel and its independent of the engine so you can just turn it off. I’ve read that it’s also supposed to improve your economy but I seriously doubt that claim.

I put LPG on a mate's TD4 converted Classic and he like you doesn't like to run out of LPG now! After a few long interstate trips he reports that the total fuel ( diesel plus 20% LPG) consumption is very nearly the same as diesel only, only that LPG is around 1/2 price, so total savings is around 10%. However he likes the power to be there for those little moments.
