Yes, the convertor locks at 85kph.

I went for a drive, and got my father to sit on 100kph in his 96, he it sat 2200rpm
I was following with my speedo reading 97kph but at 2600rpm.
I also wound up to 110kph, doing close to 2900

    The alternators are identical.

    Own 2 models & I get readings of .....
    RRC 1990 .... 1950 = 100kph
    RRC 1993 .... 2200 = 100kph

Thanks Mike, is there any valid reason why you have 2 different readings.
    Wheels?

    Nope ....

Both run 3.9 EFI / ZF Auto / BW transfer / 3.54 Diffs

Only difference is that the 1990 runs taller tyres than the 1993 ... but as said before ...

The "revs" are controlled via the amount of turns of the Alternator
The "speedo" is controlled by the turns of the output shaft of the gearbox

The revs and speedo have no idea what tyre or diff your running ... as that is fixed / Calibrated at factory to be standard Diff & tyres ....

The only way the revs could be higher (or lower), is a larger (or smaller) pulley has been installed .... OR .... The Tacho is not correct ...

A quick hook up of a mechanics tuneup box , at your local mechanic, will tell if yours is out .... Just compare what his reads, compared to what your's reads

But if other members with V8's just post up there RPM @ 100kph numbers ... Then maybe a pattern will appear

    Mike
