Damn it! I'll try adding the pics later when i have more patience!
Not sure about the roll cage but everything else should be o.k. Guess it depends on cost of a new one and mods compared to the price and hassle of getting it back here.
Here is a couple of links to give you a comparison.
Landrover Discovery 1991 - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 15-Nov-09 19:27:54 AEDST)
LANDROVER DISCOVERY,S1, V8, ONE OWNER,BRISBANE - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 22-Nov-09 20:53:40 AEDST)
Thanks for the reply. i will have to look into the roll cage issue as if I will have to remove it there is no real point as it's integral to most of the vehicle inclusing the rock sliders & rear bumber & it is also internal!
Cheers,
Chris
It also depends on what State you are going to live in on how hard it will be to register. If you have a D1 that is running 33's then chances are with the lift it has you can't won't be able to get it registered in at least NSW.
I'm sure if I'm wrong someone else will say so, in theory you would have to get it engineered to get rego and have it marked on the rego papers as being legal with the mods youv'e done otherwise a copper could stop you and take the plates off of the vehicle. You are also required to carry the rego papers with the RTA mods approved with you at all times while your driving the vehicle.
My guess is many of the 4x4's on the road here don't meet the registration requirements and run the risk of being nailed everytime they drive. How many get nailed I don't know, chances are not many I'd guess.
cheers,
Terry
You would also have to bring the rear seat with you, as it would have to be in place to get registered . Could be a problem if it interferes with the roll bar.
IMHO it would not be worth bringing the car. You can get a D1 V8 in good nick with low mileage and NO rust for AUD 5-10K. It will cost you at least that to get it here.
Just bring your stuff, buy a car here and put it on.
The LPG would have to be redone here as it must be fitted by a licenced fitter in OZ and my guess is whoever fitted it in UK would not be a licenced gas fitter here.
Regards Philip A
I have to agree.
The roll bars would have to be removed, the back seat re fitted, the gas redone and I am guessing the wheels will probably be an issue for most RWC places too.
No offence, but it isnt that unique or highly modified vehicle and you can pick up a good D1 with most of those mods for well under 10k ie b/bar, sliders, snorkel, muddies, gas and sliders here in Australia.
Nothing worse than bringing it out and then have to spend more time and money on it to get it rego'd and it just becomes another D1 in Oz thats worth a quarter of what it cost you all up.
BUT, if it has sentimental value or you just cant bear to leave it behind, then it might be worth spending the money to get it here and de-modify it.
good luck and we NEED pics![]()
See this thread for a couple of pics:

I hope that works, heres another couple too.
I know what you mean about it not being all that special, it's just as you said, I begrudge selling it here for bugger all, because the 4x4 market is non existent.
Anybody got some suggestions of good 4x4 / Landrover dealers in the Sydney area?
Cheers,
Chris
you could get it enjneered the cage don't look to bad i had a more substantul cage regoed but shell always be a two seater then
