ive got 285/75/16 = 33x11.5 in inches i think and get some rubbing, no body lift
any bigger and you'd need a body lift. how much for 35's, id have no idea, im pretty sure one of the many tyre size threads would hold the answer

I'm running 265/70/16's with a bit of rubbing - mainly oh the rear of the back arches, but I am happy with it as it is legal and after the first flex the tires custom bent the guards so now they dont hit (much). If I am going to the cost of flares then it would have to be able to fit 35's or I dont think it is worth it. Now I recognise that for many flares and 33's would be fine but as I am running the equivalent of 32's it's not worth the effort for only 1 extra inch in dia.

Also I must be hopeless at searching because I have tried a few times and end up lost, not finding what I started looking for or find something else entirely but still interesting?? which I guess is the reason for my question in the first place.

that's not a legal if your not engineered

    I'm engineered on 245/75's at 31....ish

and I'm running flares with 31's its about what you want, on mine the 31's still smashed up the rear guards even with a decent camel cut which was done with the car on a forklift.
so for me it was about tidying up the panel work...however I always have the option to go bigger now if I want, which I wont as I dont want to re-engineer
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

my motivation for fitting flares was for the extra width more than extra clearance. i was previously using 235/85/R16 and was happy with the clearance but unhappy with the stability.
now fitted 285/75/R16 on offset rims and im very happy with the stability

    so its up to you.

    Hi Dullbird

In the Northern territory (where my car is still registered) the tires I am running are legal, up there it appears that the rules relating to vehicles are quite different to the rest of Oz. This in part is why I am doing this research regarding tires and wheels etc. I am going to contact some engineers down here to find out just what I can do and stay legal with the mods I want to do.

Ultimately in the NT you can register a car as a one off manufacture, which means that as long as it meets engineers requirements, the sky is the limit in regard to modifications. They have a very clearly laid out set of rules and an information pack you can get from the MVR unfortunately it doesn't appear that easy, or as clearly laid out in the southern states.

I need a front pair of extended flares to cover the 35's on my 120" so have dug this thread up. Just thought I'd see if any of you need a set before I make any inquiries. My apologies if I've missed another similar thread

    Cheers Tony

and have it delivered to my address so I can drop it off at your place when I come up for a visit
