Thread: Where to fit reversing camera on D2?

Had a bit of trouble ading pics to my post so here is a new post, hopefully with pics.

If its for kid safety, it would have to be mounted on the roof gutter with a bracket that extends out past the spare wheel to get adequate coverage. You are better of fitting a good quality reversing sensor kit.

If its just for trailer hook-up, I've made a bracket that is fastened to the spare wheel holder that extends out over the ball. I attach the camera to this bracket only when required.

I agree to strangy's idea and soon be doing the same to mine
Good reasons...
1, The camera stays clean being inside and not outside
2. If the rear window is dirty then there's the rear wiper
3. Being inside it's not so easy for thieves to steal
I'm sure on the angle of view but the idea that you can see the rear tyre is usefull.
As soon as i get one fitted i will post some pics

Field of view is awesome...

You cannot stand at the corner of the bumper and not be visible...
Backing a trailer is great - straight to it every time!
And visibility of everything is brilliant.

Check the angle of your camera before buying one, some are restricted others much wider angle...

I mounted my camera inside the rear door on the underside of the central reversing light housing. Has the advantages of not being in the weather, was easy to run the cables, has a nice high view and, best of all, doesn't get affected by dust and dirt. Sits below the wiper sweep, too.

Oops. Just saw page 2 and Strangy's and Bluerazor's posts. Obviously I agree.

I mounted mine on a bracket beside the compressor fitting which is up out of the way and fairly protected. Wide angle lens gives a good view of the towball and well out to the sides I give it a gentle wipe with a tissue every now and then but generally it stays fairly clean.

August last year I purchased one of the ALDI reversing cameras for $149 which came with 2x cameras. 1 camera is used normally and the other camera is used when you select reverse or you can switch between the cameras manually.

I put one camera below the eye level brake light and ran the cable around the inside of the rear door frame.







The other camera i put into the rear bumper which is useful when hooking up a trailer etc







The LCD i originally had over the rear view mirror but it gave me the sh1tes there so have since moved it down onto the dash, which is still not an ideal location.

Quick question. How did you get the wiring to the reverse camera and LCD screen?

Just got one and am trying to find the best way to route the wiring.
