Personally I'd go with just third party. At that price it's like saying they think you've got a 25% chance of writing the vehicle off. After five years you've paid as much as the vehicles valued at!
I'm paying it because that's the rate I've been given. I'm 20, male, driving a modified vehicle with turbo in the description.
I'm seriously considering finding myself a decent third party insurance, as in a few years it won't be worth the continued premiums.

At that rate if you took a few hundred off for 3rdparty and banked the rest in 4 yrs you could drive it into a lake and buy another!

    Bloody RIP OFF

2003 Disco 2a, 44 yrs old rating 1, $850 excess and windscreen option at market value was paying just over $700 annually. To many vehicles to much insurance had a look at Coles insurance issued by Wesfarmers and have saved over $100 per vehicle at agreed value. Definitely worth looking at.

So many variables but better in my pocket than theirs!

You should have the vehicle registered / insured in your name and partner as a named driver. would save you some???

I used Shannon in the passed for bikes and cars. they were good with cover and claims!

    I'm 23
Relatively clean licence (never lost it)
No at fault accidents (yet, might be one coming up... It's a weird scenario)

Insured through Wesfarmers (I work for Bunnings, so get staff pricing)

    01 D2 TD5 at agreed value of $11grand
Bullbar is automatically covered on a 4WD vehicle
Cover anywhere in Aus (excluding 4wd parks I'm assuming)

Comprehensive costs me $890 per year
(Including Windscreen cover and 60% rating 1 No Claims Bonus protection)
    Standard excess of $600
    Plus $700 age excess (19-24)

About to find out what their claims are like- been pretty good so far, but we'll see how they go fighting it out over liability
    (Lifetime cover on repairs too)
