One word of advise if chipping your TD5, do the manifold mod (cutting the webbing between the ports) AND get an EGT gauge to monitor the EGT temps, they do go up, then you need to change your driving style, you will find yourself driving by the EGT temps, this has a positive affect, it looks after the engine long term and improves your fuel economy

    Performance Mods

I had a look at the manifold mod when at jordan Rover tech Perth. The guys there drill a hole about 12 mm through the webbing which relieves stress. I was also shown an EGR and what to do to clean it up. I have talked to Phil at Triumph Rover spares in Adelaide and I will send him my ECU for remapping. I think I will do the lot and remove the front muffler as well and while doing the EGR give the inlet manifold a good clean up. Should be able to cruise a bit quicker across the Nullabour towing my glider trailer with that lot done.

Also if money allows, get a set of Silicon hoses for the intercooler, they make a difference as well.

Good luck, you'll love the chip

    msb chip update

    Gday all,
Went to davis performance to get the chip installed this morning (was in syd to see a friend)very happy with the service, changed the msb ecu($600) over after checking there were no faults and a road test, they noted i've got some oil in the injector loom and need to cleen that up very soon.also the boost modulator($66) was playing up a little bit, so i got them to change that while they we in there. one hour later they were done.$840 Cheapest quote in melb was $1100 fitted. Now for my impressions, feels alot stronger of the bottom end and seems to rev out a bit quicker. Came back from Annangrove to Hornsby via the Galston gorge (great road) Alas got back to my mates place and my wife commondered the car to go shopping(aaarggg) So i'll continue this when i get back to melb when i've done some more K's
    Cheers Ben

    Gday all,
Update on the davis msb chip, have done about 1700ks now back from sydney(long way home katoomba, bathurst, whyangla dam, boorowa etc) have averaged 11 lt/100k. Mid range is deffinatley better, holds 110 on the cruise now where it used to drop back to 103 and change down a gear(auto). Finding that i'm giving it the berries more so i'll try and do an ecconomy run up to the folks place at campbells creek next week. So far so good.
    Cheers Ben
