yes it can, as thats exactly what starting with the CDL engaged does on an early D2 with a retro fitted CDL. The ABS and HDC lights are still on but BOTH of those systems retain some functionality, its is only the TC that is 100% disabled.
Fitting a simple switch into the blue wire (you normally cut) on the SLABS ECU will give the driver the ability to turn the TC off.
This is one of the reasons I have not updated my SLABS unit to the later versions as you dont have that option with those.
Probably only due to the fact it has a rear locker, fit an ARB to a D2 or Puma and I doubt there will be anything between any of them, come to think of it that would be an interesting test to do / see.
Going to have to check that, cause from memory my HDC didn't work when I restarted the car with the CDL engaged.
A side note to this is, if you engage your CDL and it engages without the light on the dash on, if you turn the ignition off and then restart the car, the TC/HDC & ABS lights dont come on or disable
