Performance wise, probably not much more than a quicker turbo spoolup time. The improved gasflow would mainly come from the turbo mount flange being a more accurate match to the exhaust turbine inlet. The stock TD5 flange porting is pretty small compared to the turbo inlet, however going too large on the manifold runners will tend to slow the gasflow down so as long as it runs the same ID tubes, is as close to matchported as you can get without actually having to do it and had equally or shorter staggered manifold runners, a smoother transitional flow will be where the improvements will be had.
The stainless would look pretty good but a bigh quality steel unit AND ceramic coating could be had for the same or similar price.
Dont know if anyone has tried porting a stock cast one yet but after looking at mine, I don't think there is enough meat in the casting to start going berserk with a die grinder. I'm contemplating getting my hands on a secondhand one and toying with it...

    Cheers

My previous D2, had the manifold refaced, new studs etc, 6 mths later same again but this time (different mech) replaced the studs with Stainless ones. No problem after that. The replacement D2a has been done the same way (same mech) and apparently has been fine for the last 80k.
