The dealers either know squat about what model they are selling or are trying to rip people off. There are a lot of "ES's" advertised by dealers that definately are not.

The attached file is what I put together back then on the '99' to '01' V8 models when I needed to know.

ps the ave klm column was correct back in 2007.
That list you've provided is pretty much on the money as per what came out of the factory, but it doesn't account for added options...

EG, mine's a base model 99 V8, yet it has the 7 seat option which adds SLS and it also has ACE.

So, if you're looking for the a Disco with SLS and ACE, don't discount the base models as some of them have been value added by options from new.

It's a tricky business trying to determine what model they are sometimes!

    thanks very much for replies.

is turning out to be a great thread....

i read between the lines and it seems the d2 is littered with many inherent design flaws which lead to horrific expenses....

i know some have been listed earlier but what other issues are that i need to be aware of with this model??

and, can i have some names of lr specialists who can inspect this vehicle before i purchase it?

ps - thoughts on these 2 (and comparions)?

Didn't the FJ40 come in a colour akin to Vienna Green?

Not necessarily... We're talking about cars that are coming up to being 12 years old. If any car of that age hasn't been maintained properly, then of course there are going to be "design flaws".

Treat your Landy well and it will go forever.

As for your links to the green and black D2a's. The Green private seller is kindly encouraging you to buy it for 23k, with no road worthy certificate.
It's just a base S model, but it does have 7 seats, which means that it will have ACE and SLS.

The black one from the dealer is a run out classic model. It's essentially a base model with extra frills (leather 7 seats, ACE, SLS, sunroof).
    24k....?

In both instances, these are quite expensive for a V8... I would be expecting to pay between 17 and 19 for a good D2a V8.
As an example, I got my MY00 for 11k.
It's not as new as a D2a, doesn't have leather, a sunroof or the high compression engine. It does have 7 seats, ACE and SLS.

Agree with you Sully except the green one doesnt have ACE. Easy to tell by looking at the steering Fluid Reservoir, if it has ACE it'll have two fill caps, this has only one.

Nice pick up there. I didn't look at the engine bay photo.
