wondering if people who have rear storage/drawers in their trucks (premade or home made) could post some pictures for those of us who are looking to put some storage in? I'm starting to think about some for my truck, and need some inspiration..
I looked at some Black Widow premade ones at the 4x4 off road show on saturday. Was $1990 for 2 draws and a fridge slide. Seemed a little pricey. Some of the custom ones on here are far superior!
I have a ply shelf held up by laminated beams down the side and front(seat end).
The cargo barier is bolted to it(not L/R) and the whole lot ties down to the load loops with twist shackles.
Also fitted are 4 eye bolts to tie crates and the fridge down.
It is a little saggy(10mm) on the open end after 4 years but with free material I'm happy still.
Hi Here's our set up, still a work in progress, has had black marine carpet added since these pics were taken, no pic of that yet, sorry. Just realised mine has a design flaw! No spot to put the dog

Reason: added to
My setup. A 29L Engel with Two-zone on top fits on the slide and a spacecase plus 20l Water jerrycan fits on the right, with a shelf above. All attached to the cargo barrier lower bolts and the two rear tie-down rings.
Made from old Rhino Rack components, structural aluminium and a whiteboard for the top shelf.
Easy to fit/remove as a unit. It is also easy to reconfigure as it is bolted together.
Just did the Cape with it back in July. Was very happy with the way it held up to the rough stuff.
Here is a link to the thread with a few more photo. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...e-setup-2.html
From memory cost was about $600 for materials. That included all the draw slides. Have a hunt around Ebay for that sort of stuff. Much cheaper that the likes of Bunnings etc.
Anyone got any experience/thoughts with/about the Ironman Drawers? They look good on the net, and a lot cheaper than other equivalents (other than home made)
This is my drawer system and is my third (and final!) version. 12mm SHS frame with 12mm marine ply inserts or decks and black 'carpet'. Top section comes out in a minute if I want cart something of a reasonable size and whole thing can be removed in 15 minutes. I've used the spare space behind the fridge space (for Waeco) for my compressor and water pump. Lower drawer has a sliding melamine laminated board which is the prep table.
Welding the frame can be a bit tricky unless your good at it (I've a gun brother who did it for me) but the result is strong, relatively light and takes up minimal space.
Recommend totally enclosing drawer area to minimise dust intrusion, especially in the drawer runners. If I had my time again, I might build my fridge slide with cam follower type rollers due to the dust issue.
