Manuals will get 9-11 l/100ks all day.
Autos will 11-13 l/100ks all day.
These are on an average & will depend on many things & as some have already mentioned.

Can't say I've ever noticed a difference between the fuels. Different trigger cutoff activations perhaps?

My manual TD5 D2a gave me between 9.5 and 11.5 L/100km prior to rechipping. Range depended on terrain, off road use, travelling over 100km/hr, use of a/c, amount of cold running. Post rechipping between 10.5 and 12.5 L/100km.

But, so what? The extra power and performance, especially low down, is worth it. In any event, a fuel difference of 2 L/100km is only worth about $450 annually against a total ownership and running cost of $17,000to $20,000 pa - just a drop in the bucket (based on value of $15,000 to $20,000 and 15,000 km/yr).

Have changed the air filter recently with a K&N cartrige. Did not notice any difference.

My 01 Disco TD5 auto with upgraded intercooler, silicone hoses, Tombie ECU upgrade, new filters and rolling on GY Duratrac's (245/75R16) at around 60psi I consistantly get around 750km per tank ... my tank is 130L !!!
I'm also using fuel additives from CEM ... CleanPower and FTC Decarbonizer.
Neither really have seem to have done anything to improve economy, although I did notice an immediate quietening of the engine noise.
Considering I have a pretty conservative right foot, the economy I am getting seems to be pretty woefull.
Mosy of my driving is on country area sealed roads, and generally fairly flat level ground.

Notice the fuel consupmtion going up on the auto TD5.
    Was getting around 13L/100km.
    Changed the MAF.
    Today it was <11.5L/100km

Should pay for itself in about 4 months.

Maybe you really have a V8 with a TD5 decal?

    Dear Rapserv,

I would suggest you get your car looked at. I would say either Mass Air Flow sensor or possibly something more sinistor.

    Dear Rapserv,

You mention that you inflate your tyres to 60psi!!! That is very scary my friend. The recommended Tyre inflation as per the manufactures specs is around the low 30's. Although your tyres maximum might say 60psi, the LR D2 is designed such that tyres are at the 30psi mark. Accordingly, braking, handling and response which equates to safety would be compromised significantly. Even the probability of you rolling your vehicle around a sharp turn will increase.

    Regards
