Disco D2 TD5 Diesel Fuel economy

Sorry didn't read through all the post so just my 10c's.

The coolant and fuel temp sensors plays a role on fuelling, obviously. BUT we've done numerous mods on both the AAP and MAP sensors to compensate for altitude and to fool boost. Both these sensors play a huge role on economy.

I suggest you have those sensors diagnosed on live data by someone who knows what he's looking at.
Also make sure low range switch isn't stuck - low range has an aggressive fuel map.

Set boost to max, why waste good energy?

I use either penrite motorbike 2 stroke oil NOT synthetic or castrol motorbike 2 stroke activ t2 Faso FC I buy 20L drums of castrol T2 truck owners buy it all the time from the suppliers I get it from for their trucks...

I guarantee results!

See it hasn't caught on by you yet... over here if someone mentions 2S0 on the forum we get the popcorn out!!

Some swear by it others not. IT"S A LUBE, FULL STOP.

Just some caution to vehicles with cats, don't get them blocked by gunk coming out of the system alla sudden. You will likely loose a turbo as well....

Please don't use synth or marine.

I am going to pack a jerry-can with 20ltrs and run the truck out of fuel to see exactly the mileage I get.

Then put my 20ltrs in then go to servo to fill up and add the two to get a final tank size figure.

My book says 95ltrs also but by 420 kms then the gauge in the truck says nearly empty.(No Light Yet).

And when I fill her up from their I get 50-55ltrs in so either I have a different tank or my fuel gauge is knackered.

I will post my results when I have a definite answer.

Honestly seems like your fuel gauge or the level in the tank is not adjusted right. I wouldn't see why you would have a reduced tank size? Most people want to increase it. If your gauge is out then your gonna be driving for a long time stressing about when your gonna run out :p. as you prob know you don't want to make a habit of running it dry as a new pump and lines are 1100 plus fitting. I expect you'll get 400ks extra from when you 'think' it's gonna run out.

So having replaced 2 fuel regulators in 10years on my D2 I have been dudded by repairers, one in Perth with an excellent reputation.

Last regulator cost $440 plus GST plus labour not happy

Did we end up reaching a conclusion?

I thought that the conclusion was reached earlier in the thread....that is that some believe that this can't be true due to that 2stroke in diesel has not been tested to ISO standards.....Even though Mercedes Benz used it, that various road tests(not to ISO standards) over thousands of kilometers have been done and that personal accounts(they must be all fairy tales) all say that 2stroke in diesel(including benefits of keeping the head cleaner internally and the motor running quieter) must all be wrong.

2stroke in diesel is of no benefit. Don't believe the hype.
It's not true and doesn't happen because it hasn't been tested to ISO standards [tonguewink]

Sorry I was referring to NWTASD2's problem regarding fuel consumption and tank capacity etc.
