The argument against ETC boils down to "it doesn't drive like a D1, therefore it is crap."

Thanks heaps to all posters and for the links. I never thought of googleing it with aulro in the mix. I had a td5 99 model which had it (not connected) and I think had around 170k on it. Now unfortunately for my $$ I'm looking at higher k vehicles and the 2001 comes up a fair bit in the price range and that year and k's is a bit unknown to me. I remembered on here that there was a couple of years that the disco did'nt have it at all and thought I'd better find out for sure which years as I'd forgotten. Thanks so much to all as gives me an idea as to whats what with different years.
    Cheers Steve

We recently made a CDL actuator arm, the OP has stated that he wants to drive on the beach, this is one of the main places that TC is a disadvantage and a CDL is bloody terrific, both working together, now thats when they are unstoppable when the goign gets tough. If you are even thinking about towing in soft sand you WILL need a CDL kit, we offered to make a lever for Dad's cousin who tows a van, they declined not wanting to put us through the effort, when they went to Fraser island they had to hook the D2 up to their friends D1 with no TC and the CDL locked to get up off the beach. Anyone who tells you the CDL is not needed for beach driving hasn't driven on proper sand, sorry but its true.
Couldn't agree more with MR LR Jnr.... My D2 2002 didn't have CDL so I sourced 1 from a wreck, checked it over and changed all of the seals and had it installed. Now I have the best of both worlds in soft sand, mud, snow, deep river crossings etc etc.
TC and CDL working together ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

Well I bought one, its a 01 model with 210k. Its a grey color and has a TJM bar with IPF lights, safari snorkel and an interior that is spotless, No sagging rooflining. The outside is very good but does have some minor marks. Has it got the CDL? well I'm not sure but hopefully will be a good vehicle, ***I hope***. I have'nt got any pics as they took the ad off but I hopefully pick it up next weekend and will put some pics up then. Its a 7 seater with rear airbags. How do I tell what it is eg: es, s, hse?. Is there an easy way of telling?
