    Unhappy Loosing power till dead

My 2003TD5a seemed to be gradually (Over a few weeks) loosing power,
esp up hills. Yesterday just crawled home 8 km wouldn't go over 30kph. Let stand overnight and started ok albeit rough and "missing", just managed 4 km and died. Waited to crank but not fire up. Coolant OK, nothing from exhaust
Diagnosis please, I think it must be "oil in harness" disease.

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

    Hi Nicky

Have been experiencing similar issues with our 1999 TD5 recently, although we can still get around at up to 80kph on flat ground. Hills are another issue though!

Anyway, the problem turned out to be the fuel pump. At least that's where all the symptoms are pointing. We have a new one on order so we'll know for sure in a weeks time.

Here's the link we found that might help - TD5 Disco Fuel pump/sender unit - Land Rover Technical Archive - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

    Good luck!

    Cheers - David

More than likely the fuel pump. When you turn the key does it make a noise? It will whirr softly until pressure is built. Do the check of all the easy stuff , fuel filter,When was it changed? Turbo hose for de lamination, Air filter, if it has still got the intake in the guard it blocks really easy on a dirt road.
