My mistake. The wood door trim isn't listed for the 2002MY ES not sure when the changeover happened but it is listed for the 1999MY

Nice machine Rok_Dr, love the armrests and leather, I have resigned myself that I am unlikely to find an ES D2a.

    Unfortunately not mine it's Northiam's.

The ES finished with the 2002 MY. So for arm rests and leather in a D2a it's an SE or HSE

Like all things that move, airbags have a service life and ten years is not a bad one.
I really dont think one failure in ten years counts as a reliability problem.

    as for arm rests,,
maybe its my shape but I dont find them at all comfortable to use,,
and I'd rather have the "stick out' window switches from my D1 !!

Could not agree more about air bags. Also they are not expensive, take up little room so should be carried as a spare,(I will be carrying two when I go out back) and are not hard to change.

Pedro, what are stick out switches? I own a D1 and D2, and apart from LR being dumb(again) and reversing the switches, they are the same.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The window switches on my D1 actually stuck out of the console around 5mm, so you could feel your way around to the switch you wanted quite easily, the D2 switches are flat with the console surround

Um,now how long was that piece of string?

The first of any model is often not the best,an early D3 may also be a coiler.

I would stick to a good D2a,but i know they are like hens teeth.....

You've probably got a much better chance of finding a really good D2a for 20k than you do a D3 for the same price, I considered D3s (to be REALLY posh for a 19yo ) but all the ones I thought worth looking at were upwards of $35k which was too much for me.
    I'd be a bit sus of a D3 for 20k.
