    Dilemma, Which Bull Bar.

I wish to purchase a new bar for my D2a. I cannot make up my mind on which one.

If I purchase this one it will be colour coded to my vehicle.(Zambezi Silver)

Deluxe winch bar | Products | ARB 4x4 Accessories

    My other option is this.

    http://www.arb.com.au/products/arb-p...-bars/3932020/

Now I do realize that this is personal choice but I would like to hear others views to help me decide.

Here are my views. On my D1 I have the full bar just in black, and on this vehicle looks were not overly important.

However on my D2 I feel looks matter, as I reckon the D2a headlights are the nicest looking headlights ever to grace a vehicle, and it would be a shame to hide them.

So the sahara bar gives better looks with less protection.

    Thoughts and opinions please.

Whoops! I just realised that I posted in General chat. Meant to post in D2 forum. Mods move if required.

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Well.
Depends what you want it for really.
Spot to stick a winch/spotties? Sahara bar. Looks the mutts nuts and it does the job nicely.
Frontal protection? Deluxe winch bar. Particularly with those pretty update headlights being something like $400 a pop, madness not to cover them IMHO.
Both will store a winch excellently, and both will stop skippy putting his face through your radiator, but for protection you can't beat ARB full bars.

I'd really like a colour coded Sahara bar for our D2a, that would be my pick just on looks alone.
    Cheers,

    Sahara for looks.

    ARB for protection.

    xRox for rugged looks.

All hold a winch the same. I'd have a Sahara if the price were substantially better but it's exxy.

As everyone said, Sahara for looks, Deluxe for protection.
Either will look great in silver.

    Exclamation Show or Protect

Over the years I had different Landys .
I see a Roo bar as the name suggests : a ROO stopper.
Unfortunately enough hit a few over the years , every one stopped by the bar.
Once on Nw England Hwy cruising 80-90 k. Hit a massive one , my full wrap Alloy bar split on one side but the County was undamaged. Recently hit tow Roos in 5 minutes, the full wrap alloy bar of my Rangie stopped them with no damage. later that day heard a story of a bloke with alight show bar , hit a big Roo at 120 k , car was good for the wreckers.
Good luck choosing. Stay save !

As others have said, if you are buying it mainly to mount your accessories it doesn't really matter, but if you are doing any significant country touring I would go the full bar.

Just spent two weeks driving in outback QLD and NSW and even though I avoided driving at dawn and dusk where I could, we had multiple near misses with big Roos, and a very close call with an Emu, as well as pigs, and livestock. Fortunately no actual contact but I was very glad of my full steel ARB bar, and wouldn't do it again without one.

There was one section of road where I swear there was a dead roo or other wildlife every 3- 10 meters for a couple of hundred kilometers.

I've never understood why the deluxe bar is not of the 'split pan' type where the Sahara is.

So based on that if you do alot of towing and keeping the engine temp down is a priority get the Sahara.

For me I will be getting a Deluxe bar, in ARB black for my silver D2a. Cost is a big reason, but why the Sahara looks good I'd rather spend less $$ and get better protection.

As for colour matching, while it looks good when undamaged scrapes will show, especially on a silver bar. Where as in black it will not be as noticeable.

Red face ....there's always fine print...

This is a gross generalisation but, the Sahara bar says "I'm a soft 4WD" whereas a full bar denotes that the vehicle is prepared to get down and dirty...and a shame no-one does a set of side protection bars and steps/sliders to suit.

(but if I had a D2a I'd get the Sahara....)
