Uses your original fob's circuit board, has blank key to cut to match your existing one. Only downside is that the case needs to be glued together so
changing a battery may damage the case. The buttons may be a bit more durable as well.

    All for less than $20-.

I bought one too and am using it fine. I had it cut by one of those guys in the mall and he also expressed doubt that it would work. I patiently explained that his job was not to think but cut the key. Biggest hassle was gluing the case together without gluing my fingers to the case.

Did you guys find that the sides where the two case pieces join doesn't line up and kind of see-saws from end to end?
I got one, then got the guy to send me a new case and it was the same :-( I've had a go at filing one down and almost have it to an acceptable standard.
Then I got the key cut by a shopping centre guy (bunnings and masters wouldn't touch it) and it doesn't work. The guy at the shops had trouble, and the sides don't look identical so I might need to take it to a locksmith to rectify. More $$$!

Just clamped it in the vice after i glued it. That took care of the bowing.

I only received one key / remote when I purchased my Disco so I have purchased a second hand key with working circuit board and 2 of the flip key cases...
So.. I have had one key blank cut and it goes into the ignition.. turns it on but the car will not start.. I haven't even contemplated programming the 2nd hand circuit board yet..

I guess my question is... is there a transponder chip in the original key?
If so... where is it and where does it go in the flip key?

I find that the circuit board doesn't lock into the flip key fob and this seems to make the unlock button harder to activate... I havent glued anything together just yet...lol.

Is there anyone reasonably local to Penrith who can program this 2nd hand pliper??

I can program for you. I'm in Seven Hills.

You need to either have the key in the fob (in this case not fresh off boat) as it needs to see it or if it's a generic key just swipe the fob under the barrel.

Ahh.. the swiping my usable key under the barrel worked like a charm.

Now what I need to do is get a new battery for the 2nd hand circuit board and arrange to visit Seven Hills for some programming, before I even think about glueing....lol.

Those screw together units look good too... hmmm

As an update to this thread, the ebay seller is now charging nearly $130AUD for the fob! Seems that he's found out that there is plenty of interest, so hiked his price accordingly.
