    Did you fit the EGT sensor and turbo yourself or have it done?

    Maybe it is residue of badly advised sealant that has burnt off, like the gasket goo I found on the gasket of my FPR.

    Fitted the egt myself. Turbo, no idea. Might grab a gasket and change it anyway.

    It should be plausible I was getting residue on top of the turbo heat shield when the washer jet on the passenger side failed.
