i dont loose coolant at other times at all, and the hose that came off was because of a quick repair i did when i first got it. that little black brittle one that runs infront of the radiator all the way to where you fill it fell apart when i had pulled my air box out to clean it back at the end of jan, it was then replaced with hose really not suitable as it would warp and stretch in the heat, so then over time as the hose warmed up, it would slowly come off the little tiny bit of the original hose until it came off completely and the coolant came out of there. so this occurance has been my fault. my dad brought me some water, re attached that silly hose, took it straight home, it ran perfectly fine, and then have now replaced that black hose with a copper alternative so it will never melt off again. it has been fine since, back to running at half and no coolant lost at all. i do want to check my compression though just to make sure for peace of mind.

The same thing happened to me after going through the thermostat issue and blowing a hose, loss of power, engine cut and no damage done. But the head and or gasket will likely be the culprit. The TD5 cooling system on its own should not be causing you so much grief.
