    Squeaky Dead Dog performance

    Hia folks.
Chasing a few issues on my 2001 Td5 Auto.

    - First problem; The squeaks.
I'm familiar with Harmonic Balancer and Viscous Coupling squeaks. HB is 40k old, and the Viscous Coupling was replaced roughly 15k ago. Viscous Coupling was a non genuine part but not el cheapo ****. Harmonic Balancer was done under the PO but carried a genuine price tag
I've not replaced anything else, what else should I be looking at? The front cam cover seal is leaking so maybe that's causing the belt to slip or something? When the VC went the squeak was riiiiiight on shut-off, whereas this is both start up and shut down and maybe a second after the engine catches and a second before it actually fully shuts down. What should I be looking for?

    - Second problem; Running like crap
My MAF was reading 40 at idle last I checked, which I know is bad. It was a bit lacking but still very drivable. Coming back from uni on wednesday, I accelerated to merge and as soon as I hit 2500 rpm it started surging up to 3000 and back again. Wouldn't do it with gentle acceleration but anything hard would trigger it intermittently. Also had zero boost under hard acceleration, 60km/h at WOT made for unhappy hills. Been having a chat with Tombie, and coupled with the squeak I was getting at the surging RPM we're at the conclusion of a holed hose somewhere upstream of the Turbo, so I'll be examining those in a minute.

any advice on either of these would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

Delaminates turbo hose? Not sure if that will be it though.

Spray some water on belts with a spray bottle and see if the noise goes away. some times by spaying you can work out which belt is nosey Belts may have dried out or glased. Pulleys can also get glased and need roughing up with corset emry tape

Have you checked or replaced the drive belt tensioner?

    Squeek or squeel????
Squeel will be broken exhaust studs, would tie in with no boost/poor boost under load.
Also worth checking,do remember a member had an issue with a blocked flex pipe below the turbo.
    Goodluck.

I might have a very minor warp in the manifold yep I was only getting the whistle at the exact surging RPM.

    Interesting...
Cleaned the MAP, pulled everything off, yadda yadda yadda.
Started it up...hear this weird 'wap wap wap' type noise...
Stick my head around the engine bay and put my ear to the snorkel and that's where it's coming from....
Why is my snorkel sounding like a helicopter....
