    ARB bull bar fitting advice

I have a huge box sitting in the drive with an ARB deluxe winch bull bar in it
Going to fit it tomorrow and looking for any tips or advice?
    Anything to look out for?

    Thanks

It comes with a pretty good set of instructions. Have a leasurely read over breakfast, get tools etc together and don't rush it.

I seem to recall from another thread that it's a good idea to get the bar alignment such that you can still remove the headlights to change bulbs before the final tighten up.

    Cheers

    Easy peasy.
Make sure you do the vertical holes. I also used 12mm HT bolts, and stuck a hi-lift under the front of the bar to get it sitting nice and level.
Make sure you trim and re-fit the splash guards, etc.

    You WILL need a mate.

Most of the D2 bar is fairly easy, but having someone help with getting it into place, and aligned is possibly one step they missed from the instructions.

Not sure if you have the front fog lights, but the plastic mounts on mine were showing their age when removed from the bumper, to insert into the bar. We put them back in with 2 part epoxy.

Just take your time, and it should be fairly easy. If something doesn't look right, walk away from it for 10 mins.

Oh, and if you need a 15 month old Rottie as a Trade Assistant, just give me a call. He is soooo much help...

Make sure you've got a sharp drill bit for the vertical holes. If using a 'normal' length bit you'll need to have it just in the drill chuck to get right through.

I fitted mine recently and it was pretty straightforward. We used an engine crane to support it while getting it positioned.

I'd be interested to hear what you do with the plastic inner guard trims. The instructions say to cut them straight across from the bottom of the bar, but it seems to me that they would flap around without some sort of support.

You need a long 13mm drill bit for the vertical holes. And yer take your time. Mine is higher on one side because I was being impatient.

Yep. That's what happened. ARB installed mine and the first trip away I had to pull over and dig out my drill and use some cable ties to hold the flap off the tyre. Pretty poor IMO.

Put some low wattage globes in the turn signals in the bullbar otherwise you will have the trailer light going off at you.

When I did mine I did it by myself but had a overhead tackle and a good floorjack to assist. I also put the winch in at the same time which added to the weight.
