RRC sold - were is the TD5 performance mod sticky?

Today I sold my pride and joy! A 1988 RRC with everything done to it that i needed without going stupid. I do feel i'll regret it one day.... However i'm soon to purchase the old mans 2004 D2a TD5. I ventured onto the forum (Disco 2 section of course rather than the very knowledgeable RRC section) to see what performance upgrades were possible hoping there would be a sticky for the ones everyone does but to no avail.

Going from a 3.5lt V8 to a 2.5 I5 turbo diesel is a challenge, mostly due to turbo lag and lack of throttle response. While i understand they are completely different engines it would be nice to get the TD5 running better. I plan on getting it remapped by Bayswater Automatics (seen on 4WD Action) for approx. $1200 mostly as they are close and convenient. Rather than the back and forth from 'TD5 inside' for example.

Anyway all that aside - please, a list of wonderful things to do to a TD5 for someone earning an average income.

$1200 for a remap? You would be wasting your money in my opinion. You don't need to go back and forth with the Td5 inside tune. If you need it changed he will do it free of charge. So if you add a bigger intercooler, he will change the tune for you as well. I had it done on mine and it made a big difference power wise. For $1200 you could get it remapped and a bigger intercooler for that price.

I got td5 Inside remap. Very happy. Cheaper than $1200

Most people seem to remove center muffler (mine was done when I bought it). personally I would put a high flow muffler in.

keep a close eye on front drive shaft (they break). I changed mine for a heavy duty one. drove ok out to the bush and vibration was really bad on the way home (less than 50km)

I once had a 3.5 v8 D1. The td5 eats it in every regard. Well, maybe not exhaust noise. Ive posted the measured performance gains from td5inside else where. (+100Nm for around $400 is as good as any mod you will find, more $ for me as I needed new ecu) EGR and muffler delete help the turbo response. Still getting around 10L/100km every week.

    Can also recommend TRS chip,
I imagine their remap would be just as effective..
You pay for the change over ECU plus a deposit, when you post your old ECU back, they refund the deposit. Thats how i did it anyhow.
Be aware you will need have, or find a member close by with a Nanocom or Hawkeye to learn security code and enter injector codes.
    Cheers

    P.S
if it's auto, a low stall torque converter gets these vehicles moving at lower revs to, which really suits the TD5 engine, especially chipped/remapped.

D2a has a large intercooler to D2, so unless you are really upping performance, no need to upgrade it. Do a remap, it changes the vehicle, but at $1200 that's too much.

Thanks everyone. Maybe TD5 inside or similar is the way to go.

Can anyone provide a contact e-mail / phone number / website link? Would be much appreciated.
