    Oil Light

I had the oil changed in Broken Hill, I supplied the Penrite HPR15W60 and the Mech supplied the filter.
Since then the oil light has been slow to go off. (This is the same oil I have been using previously) I had the filter changed today, a Repco for a Valvoline (I couldn't tell what filter was on it),
    no change.
The next step has to be a new pressure switch.
British Off Road dont keep an oil pressure switch,(!!) nor does the Land Rover dealer,, (!)
makes me feel like they dont fail very often----
I have ordered the LR one under JC's advice.

There have been no rattles at all.
even after 5-6 seconds of red light.
lots of bit finger nails though--

so. worst case. the new switch makes no difference.
    whats the next step?

Do these engines run a hydraulic operated(engine oil pressure) timing chain tensioner????
The falcon 6 engines do and a slow to extinguish oil pressure light from cold is an indication of a worn tensioner.

Ok, so new switch makes no difference..
After having a bit of a think,,
the trouble started after a change of oil and filter,, but the oil was the same as used previously--
    but the filter wasnt.
All previous filters have been a Fleetguard LF 3487, a 2micron synthetic media filter.
So one of them is coming up from Brizzy for fitting.
    could it be that simple?

I concur, only trouble is he won't be confident whether it was oil or the filter causing the issue if they are both changed at once. He might not care either as long as the problem has been solved.

Perhaps change the oil with the current new filter and see if it makes a difference. When you get your new filter from Brisbane fit it then.

I've noticed while doing my rebuild there is an oil release valve next to the oil pump. It is advised to remove and clean this when rebuilding.

I've had no experience with this it is just a suggestion. If changing the oil and filter does not prove to be helpful, perhaps this valve is stuck open?

Could be that simple , did the mech give you your oil container back?
If it was a big shop , one of the mechs could have mistakenly put their own oil in.
If you switch engine off , then restart within 10 seconds does the oil light go out quicker?
