Worane, your problem is as below.
male 63 yrs.married to a hot old duck
While I cannot comment on your hot old duck, the fact is that as you get older you lose nighttime receptors from your retinas.

You need much more light than a young'un to see and it takes longer for your eyes to adapt to the decrease in light from high to low beam.

Having said that , I find my 130/90s along with a really old PIAA harness gives me pretty good vision from my 2002 D2 headlights.

I had HID bulbs fitted to the under bumper Hellas in my RRC , but found the reflections from signs was painful. I have put off adding lights to the D2 and I avoid driving at night where possible. The bonus is it reduces you hitting wildlife also, and I haven't killed anything in 2+ laps of Oz.

Thanks Phillip. Yes if were to be honest with myself , I have to admit thinking down those same lines. Knackered eyes
I do have a spare PIAA harness that belonged to my late brother. Maybe that would help.
Can I get brighter Low beam globes? That would just about cover all bases.

As I said above , I have 130high, 90 low so much brighter than 60/55.

BTW, I have tried +100 Osrams but they are nowhere near 130/90s.
There are heaps on Ebay, but I would keep to the lower Kelvin ones rather than blue, as I found earlier that blue are a bugger in rain.

    Nick,

So are you running a 90/130w H4 bulb? Is that correct?

Without a Traxide loom upgrade the poor things will be starving for power...

Drivesafe on the forum is Mr Traxide...

About if the Traxide wiring upgrade is fitted, along with 90/130 watt globes, which appears to be the most powerful option mentioned so far.

I remember a few years back when my old man fitted 90/100's to a VW, that the lenses got so hot that they cracked when a drip of water hit them.
Has anyone done this 90/130 with Traxide upgrade option long term to give some reliable feedback??

Will that headlight upgrade melt my perspex headlight protectors(factory) that are fitted?

    Cheers

    Jason

I have done this for about 20 years on 2xRRC and now 1xD2 with no problems. All have glass lenses, and none have cracked.
I have used the same PIAA loom on all .LOL
Be careful with D2A as they have Poly lenses, and you have to make sure the bulbs are nominated "UV cut"

    Hi all,

My TRAXIDE Combo Head Light upgrade and Driving Light kit is ordered and I was wondering if anyone has photos of where in the engine bay they installed the 2 twin relays on their D2 . Tim from TRAXIDE suggests on a plate attached to the radiator support panel. I did a search but it didn't return anything helpful.

+1 for 100/90 or uprated bulbs. I ran HIDs in my D1 for a bit but the glare was unbearable.

Another option is a little dc-FC conveyer to UP the voltage the headlights see to 15/17 volts. I have read a bit about them on HID Planet forum.
