Brother and I took on the challenge of changing the oil in his TD5 today. (so technically nothing happened to my D2, but I see myself as his D2's surrogate owner).
But we kind'a prepared ourselves to the oil filter removal challenge on the TD5. And not only did we win, but it was a walk over.
Other than the fact that we both have fat fumbly hands, so getting new oil filter on had to be thought through a little more than what is normal .. it wasn't as hard as I imagined it to be.
We did have a small issue with the centrifugal filter housing tho, where one of the bolts stripped the casing's threads, but a slightly longer bolt fixed that, and tightened up to an acceptable level. No mess on start up.
next filter change tho we may have to look into a re tapping of that thread.
Well ... my D2 got a new battery, as my D1(daily) is getting harder and harder to start in this cold weather, so it wanted its new battery back from the D2.
I'm still too lazy to do anything on my D2 tho .. can't get the brain to motivate the muscles to do the power steering pump change.
In fact I can't get my brain to motivate myself to get the spare pump to a repairer to rebuild it so that it's prepped for the install into the D2.
thanks
Did you check your breather pipe. Mine was pretty much blocked. I could barely blow any air through it until I put the air compressor on it.
Interested to see if that fixes it. I'm just waiting on parts to arrive so that will be one of the first things to go on.
Also I have done 201K too.
Did you torque the axle nut back on? My 1/2" torque wrench doesnt go that high. I've got to do the harmonic balancer too so maybe I'll do them at the same time and hire a 3/4 torque wrench.
The 4 bolts on the axle to hub are only 100 Nm mine did it easy

Our disco's must be twin's cause mine is up for a balancer as well. It just started squeaking when you turn it off

My breather was not blocked at all but when I took the hub unit off it looked to me that the it was grease as opposed to oil that I cleaned off so probably a hub as well (lots an lots to spend $$$$$$$ )
