What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Thanks Randy - it’s definitely a metallic vibrating noise at around 2100rpm. Right at cruising speed. Good news is it goes away at 120kmh. Bad news for the licence though... What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

And got rid of the EGR about 6 years ago....

Yep. My list of fails to date: tightened the handbrake
But did you dismantle and inspect the handbrake.

The wear that causes the rattle is on the brake shoes where they touch the raised portions of the backing plate and on the backing plate itself.

They could still have wear if you adjusted the handbrake.
Have you pulled the hand brake on gently while doing 2100RPM. Someone else asked this question.
Another possibility is that the cat is broken up and rattling inside.
    Regards Philip A

I have pulled gently on the handbrake whilst driving, yes. I don't have a cat either as mine is an early 2000.

Parkes to Coona? I thought you had a Disco, not a Series One. The Warambungles might slow a 300 a little, but not a TD5, surely?
